Terms of Use
HSA Assistant
Part of the Synodos One app family
Effective: October 5, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of HSA Assistant (the "App"). The App is provided by the developer identified on its App Store listing (the "Provider") and published under the Synodos Path brand. Synodos One is a family of apps. It is not an account system, shared database, or cloud service.
If you obtain the App through Apple's App Store, your license to use the App is subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Standard EULA"). These Terms supplement the Standard EULA. If these Terms conflict with the Standard EULA on a matter governed by the license, the Standard EULA controls.
By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
What the App Does
HSA Assistant is a recordkeeping tool for people with a health savings account (HSA). It can help you:
- Keep itemized receipts for medical expenses you have paid, and check the details the App reads from them
- Record reimbursements (money you take out of your HSA to cover a qualified medical expense you paid for yourself), and see what is still available to reimburse
- Record contributions and compare them with your contribution limit
- Prepare a yearly tax summary, as a PDF, of figures you may need for IRS Form 8889
- See key dates, such as when the $1,000 catch-up contribution begins (the year the account holder turns 55), age 65, and when Medicare starts
- Illustrate how the amount available to reimburse might grow if the money stays invested, at a yearly return you choose
The App does not connect to your HSA provider or bank, move money, file taxes, or decide whether an expense qualifies.
Not Tax, Legal, Medical, or Investment Advice
Information shown by the App, including contribution limits, eligibility rules, key dates, and tax summary figures, is provided for general information and recordkeeping only. It is not tax, legal, medical, financial, or investment advice, and use of the App does not create a professional relationship.
Tax rules and contribution limits change, and some rules depend on your circumstances. The App's rules reflect IRS guidance for the tax years shown in the App. Confirm current rules with IRS publications (such as Publications 969 and 502), your HSA provider, or a qualified tax professional before relying on the App, particularly when filing a return or taking money out of your HSA.
The growth illustration is an illustration at a rate you choose. It is not a prediction or a recommendation.
Who May Use the App
The App is intended for adults keeping records for their own health savings account and for family members whose expenses they are authorized to keep records of. It is not intended for use by children.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Entering accurate information, and checking the details the App reads from a receipt before saving it
- Deciding whether an expense qualifies, and keeping the records the IRS may ask for
- Reviewing totals and tax summaries before relying on or sharing them
- Keeping your iPhone secure, and keeping your backup file and recovery code safe
- Making the backups you need
- Adding only documents you have the right to keep
Your Records Stay Under Your Control
Your records are stored on your iPhone, encrypted. The App does not send them to the Provider, and the Provider cannot access them through the App. The App has no account system and no Provider-operated server or cloud service for your records. The App has no advertising network, analytics SDK, or third-party crash-reporting SDK. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Backups
The key that unlocks your records stays on your iPhone and is not included in an iCloud or computer backup of the iPhone. To keep a copy you can restore on another iPhone, make an HSA Assistant backup in the App. You need both the backup file and its recovery code to restore it. The Provider cannot access a backup or its recovery code and cannot recover a lost recovery code.
Tax Summaries, Sharing, and Links
When you create a tax summary PDF or share a record, iOS sends a copy to the application, person, printer, or storage location you select. That destination may process or retain it under its own privacy practices. Review the document and destination before sharing.
The App links to its Privacy Policy, these Terms, Apple's license agreement, and Apple's subscription settings. Opening a link connects your device to that website. The App does not send your records to it.
Support Communications
If you choose to email hsa-support@synodospath.com, the Provider receives the information and attachments you include through Google Workspace to respond to your request. The "Contact support" option in the App does not attach any records. Contact support to request deletion of a support communication.
Subscription
Adding new records requires a subscription, purchased through Apple as an auto-renewing yearly subscription: 2 weeks free, then $19.99 per year in the United States (prices in other countries are set by Apple and shown before you buy). The free trial is for new subscribers. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, the subscription begins and Apple charges your Apple Account. The subscription renews each year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. One subscription covers your Family Sharing group.
With an active subscription, you can add new receipts (by scanning, or from a photo or file), new reimbursements, and new contributions. Records you already saved always remain viewable and exportable, with or without a subscription, and you can still correct them, create tax summaries, and make backups. Prices may change. Apple will notify you as required before a change affects your subscription.
Availability and Updates
The App may be corrected, updated, changed, or discontinued. Updates may include new contribution limits, software fixes, or changes needed for newer versions of iOS.
Discontinuation does not intentionally delete information stored in the App, but an unsupported App may eventually stop working because of device or operating-system changes. Keep HSA Assistant backups or tax summaries of records you need to preserve.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of accuracy, completeness, currentness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability.
The Provider does not warrant that the App will read every receipt correctly, that its totals or limits are correct for your situation, or that its information will satisfy the IRS, your HSA provider, or a tax preparer.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Provider is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from use of or inability to use the App. This includes taxes, penalties, or interest, and consequences of outdated information, information read from a receipt that you saved without correcting, user-entered information, device loss, device failure, App deletion, lost recovery codes, or user-directed sharing.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Apple's Standard EULA may provide additional terms governing warranties and liability for an App Store copy of the App.
Intellectual Property
The App's original design, software, structure, branding, and original content belong to the Provider or its licensors. Restrictions on copying, redistribution, modification, and reverse engineering are subject to Apple's Standard EULA and any rights that applicable law does not permit the Provider to restrict.
The Provider claims no ownership of information or documents you enter or store. You keep whatever rights you have in that material.
Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated when the App, its data practices, or applicable rules change. The effective date will be updated when the Terms change. Material changes will be presented through an App update or another reasonable notice before the revised Terms are applied.
Ending Use
You may stop using the App at any time. "Delete all app data" in Settings removes all records and returns the App to its first-run setup. Deleting (not merely offloading) the App removes its records from that iPhone. Copies outside the App, such as backup files and shared tax summaries, must be deleted separately.
